This programme supports short audiovisual works inspired by space, science, and exploration using real archive footage from a major public space image collection. It is open to a wide range of creative approaches and welcomes experimental, narrative, documentary, comedy, drama, animation, music video, horror, remix, and other styles.
To qualify, the submission must be an original work by the entrant, apart from the archive material used. The film must be no longer than 10 minutes, including credits, and must include at least 10% archive video footage as part of its total running time.
Eligible projects must also meet the following core requirements:
- The work must have been created after 1 January
- It must not be an excerpt from a longer work
- It must be in English or include English subtitles where needed
- Any third-party music must be properly cleared
- The entrant must have the rights needed to submit the work and grant the required licences
Submissions may use publicly available archive footage and still images, and the material may be creatively altered in the edit or through post-production techniques.
There is no entry fee. Works are submitted digitally and must follow the required technical specifications. If selected, filmmakers may be asked to provide a high-resolution version, and winning projects must be able to deliver a 1080p master file.
This is best suited to filmmakers who can take archival material and turn it into a strong short-form cinematic work with a clear artistic point of view. The programme is looking for creativity, emotional impact, and confident filmmaking craft rather than one specific genre or format.
